A Tribute to Charlie Kirk and to All Real Women Living with PCOS
When a Voice for Women Falls Silent

Habang sinusulat ko ito, ang bigat ng dibdib ko.

Just recently, lumabas ang balita na Charlie Kirk, founder ng Turning Point USA, has died after being shot during an event in Utah.

Parang ang hirap paniwalaan. For many, he was controversial. Pero for countless young people—especially women—Charlie was a voice na hindi natatakot magsabi ng totoo.

He was brave enough to stand firm: to talk about faith, family, and the true role of women in society.

At bilang isang Filipina na may PCOS, hindi ko ma-explain how much his words resonated with me. Kasi minsan, women like me feel invisible. Pero when Charlie spoke, he reminded the world that being a woman is biological, sacred, and irreplaceable.

This blog is my tribute to Charlie Kirk—and at the same time, a tribute to all real women suffering silently with PCOS.

Charlie Kirk’s Voice on the Importance of Women

Hindi lahat ng lalaki magsasalita in defense of women. Pero si Charlie, he wasn’t afraid to remind young women of their true worth.

During the Turning Point USA Young Women’s Leadership Summit, he said:

“Every single one of you have what it takes … most importantly please become a wife and start a family … that is the most important thing if you so feel called and want to be happy … but that shouldn’t be the only thing you do if you so choose …”
Charlie Kirk (Media Matters)

Kung tutuusin, madali siyang i-criticize. Kasi sa panahon ngayon, maraming nagsasabi na “don’t box women into marriage and motherhood.”

But if you listen closely, hindi iyon ang punto niya.

What Charlie meant was this: there is honor, dignity, and joy in being a wife and a mother—and society should never shame women for choosing that path.

Bukod pa doon, Charlie pointed to Mary, the mother of Jesus, bilang inspirasyon:

“Mary is a phenomenal example… be pious, be reverent, be full of faith, slow to anger, slow to words at times.”
Charlie Kirk (ChurchPOP)

These words hit me so hard.

Kasi for women with PCOS, minsan parang nawawala ang identity natin. Our cycles are irregular, we struggle with acne, weight, hair loss, at worse, infertility. And yet, Charlie reminded us: ang pagiging babae ay hindi natatapos sa struggles.

Mary’s example proves na kahit may hardships, our faith and courage can still shine.

PCOS: The Silent Battle of Real Women

Kung alam lang ng iba, Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS) is more than just irregular periods. It’s a lifelong condition. Sabi nga ng World Health Organization:

“Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) affects an estimated 6-13% of reproductive-aged women.”
World Health Organization (WHO)

Imagine, 6–13% ng kababaihan sa buong mundo. Pero bakit parang tahimik ang mundo tungkol dito?

PCOS means:

  • Struggling to lose weight kahit anong diet.
  • Painful acne kahit adult ka na.
  • Mood swings na parang rollercoaster.
  • And worst of all: infertility.

Ito yung totoo. Real women bleed. Real women ovulate. Real women fight their biology every single day.

Kaya minsan masakit marinig when trans women claim to be “real women” based only on mindset.

Kasi kami, kahit anong dasal, kahit anong gamot, kahit anong treatment—minsan hindi talaga binibigay ng katawan namin ang pagiging ina. That’s reality. That’s biology.

Remembering Charlie Kirk: How People Reacted

When news came out about Charlie’s death, social media exploded.

Some mourned deeply, some criticized, pero undeniably, thousands of people felt the loss.

For conservatives, he was a bold leader. For young people, he was a mentor. For women like me, he was a defender of truth—a man who stood up for our dignity at a time when the world is so confused about gender and identity.

Nakakaiyak isipin: a voice like his, suddenly gone.

But his legacy lives on in his words, his boldness, and the many people he inspired to stand up for what’s right.

Charlie’s death reminded me how short life is. Pero it also reminded me to be braver—to speak up. Kasi kung hindi tayo magsasalita, sino pa?

So to all the women with PCOS reading this: you are not alone.

You are real women.
You are fighters.
You are worthy of love, family, and faith.

PCOS does not define you. Your struggles don’t make you less. Kung anuman ang pinagdadaanan mo—irregular periods, fertility challenges, weight gain, mood swings—lahat iyan ay parte ng pagiging totoo mong babae.

Carrying Charlie’s Torch

Charlie Kirk once said:

“Every single one of you have what it takes … please become a wife and start a family …”

For me, this wasn’t just about motherhood—it was about reminding women na may value tayo sa society.

Na hindi dapat ikahiya ang biology natin. Na kahit may struggles, kahit may PCOS, our worth is never diminished.

Charlie may be gone, pero his message remains. And as a Filipina with PCOS, I will carry that torch forward: to remind the world that real women exist, real women suffer, and real women fight every day.

We are not defined by trends, ideologies, or identities. We are defined by truth, by biology, by faith, and by the courage to keep going.

This is my tribute to Charlie. This is my tribute to all of us—real women, with real struggles, and real strength.

Love,
Reese
